Smart math by an idiot

i confess i am a total disaster when it comes to math.

Luckily for me i don’t need to have a grade for the darn subject for the job i do. i am so bad at counting i think it is normal for me to be having a hard time trying to pay my bills every month. Heck man, i am so deficient in this area that i don’t even know what is the right salary to ask my boss to help me overcome my financial peculiarity. If, at all, it’s a peculiarity.

How i wish i had paid more attention to my math teachers in class. That way i don’t have to be stucked in the condition that i am in now. My brilliance in math would have made me into a banker. A politician. Or a darn good son-in-law. i heard for the last job mentioned you don’t even have to be employed to be filthy rich. It’s all got to do with math i tell you. Darn it i am just stupid as stupid can be with figures.

And all this big-numbers talk about millions and billions and billions of Ringgit been willy-nilly-spent, wasted, siphoned, leaked or bailed-ladida that i have been reading and hearing about all these years is giving me a big headache. Then i remembered this.

Someone once said something like to overcome what is giving you the headache is to do the thing that’s giving you the headache. So i will try to do the math and please bear with me. For the purpose of easy accounting, the figures have been rounded up okay.

Population: 26,000,000
Av. persons per family: 4
Unconfirmed Ringgit shafted over the years: 7,800,000,000,000 (7.8 trillion)

Ringgit per person = 7,800,000,000,000 -:- 26,000,000 = 300,000
Ringgit per family = 300,000 x 4 = 1,200,000 (1.2 million)

Now, after much difficulty and with a headache gone, this idiot of me finally solved the math and came up with this tidy sum that each family today could have benefited from, should the money be not lost or hijacked that is – a big kahuna RM1.2 million.

Like i said, i am not very smart at math but my pea-brain tells me this supposedly amount of extra money for each family could have helped taken care of a lot of essential and necessary expenses like transport, housing, medical, education and toll.

Not only is this not happening, when it could and should have been, but the common lot of us is further burdened by all sorts of unreasonable tax and price increases which include motor fuel, cooking gas, electricity, water, teh tarikh, roti canai, schoolbus fee, foodstuffs, etc., etc.

And did someone tell us common folks to change our lifestyle and tighten belt? How dumb can one get to suggest this when everywhere you go and hear is gaji tak naik, tapi semua harga naik.

Apa dah jadi, oi? … what went wrong? … yiks, my headache is back!

Pak Lah, what say you to our brothers and sisters here

August 12, Putrajaya: Group demands equality ...
Source: Malaysiakini

Sir, you have often told us you are the Prime Minister for all Malaysians and i also remember clearly that you made us many promises when we voted you into office.

In fact, we gave you one of the biggest landslide victories in Malaysian election history because we believed in you and that we will stand behind you in everything you promised to do.

Ask your conscience, sir, to-date have you really delivered what you have promised us?

And here i read today that thousands of my brothers and sisters had wanted to meet up with you and present their case. They said they have waited 50 years and it’s time they speak up. What’s more, this year being our 50th year of Merdeka would be an opportune time to do so and i tend to agree with them. Seriously, sir, if not now, when? How many of us can wait for another 50 years to say what need to be said?

Anyway, they came to Putrajaya at the appointed time and day but you were nowhere to be seen. Not even your representatives. Is it true that they wrote to you about this and that you have replied to them? If this is true, i wonder why you did not make an appearance. Elegant silence is one thing, sir. Total disregard is another – it smacks of arrogance.

But you are not an arrogant person Mr. Prime Minister, unlike some of your Cabinet Ministers.

People can say many things but i will not take them at face value. i will seek verification and that’s why i shall quote them here for your benefit.

- start quote -

"We wrote a letter to the PM to let him know of today's gathering on Aug 6, and he sent us an acknowledgement letter on Aug 7. However, he's not here today," lamented Hindraf legal adviser P Uthayakumar.

"He's the number one civil servant of our country and he has to be here to answer to this. But where is he?" he asked.

"They say all department officials are at a meeting in Penang - not even one of his five secretaries is in town?"

- end quote -

There you have it, Mr. PM. Promise you will reply?

It’s your chance to tell my brothers and sisters here that they lied.

Look who is talking

Just picked this up ...

As i remembered it, it was the man himself who is in the habit of threatening “national stability and harmony … of the country” when it suits him.

His last keris-waving antic and shouts of bathing the sharp instrument in some Malaysians' blood were even televised on national tv for all to see during his party’s last general assembly.

Is this another one of those classic cases of Playing to the Gallery for political mileage? Or simply: Do as I say; don't do as I do.

When will he and people of his ilk ever grow up and realize that this is the 21st century and education has helped the general populace overcome stupidity. Also, politics today is not about dramatics and threats but delivering on promises to the people responsibly – and it has absolutely nothing to do with drawing metal and blood, okay.

Umno Youth Wants Regulatory Control Of Bloggers
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 (Bernama) -- Umno Youth Chief Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said today the time has come for regulatory control of bloggers who resort to unethical means to belittle the country's leaders and mock national symbols and instruments.

He said the movement would not tolerate anyone, particularly bloggers, who threaten national stability, harmony and traditional values of the country.

"Umno Youth warns that freedom has its limits and we will not tolerate those who touch on the issues of national stability, harmony, cultural values and the personality of national leaders," he said when opening the Subang Umno divisional delegates conference here.

Hishammuddin related how irresponsible bloggers had victimised him and his family by spreading slander and even published the picture of an indecently attired young woman whom they claimed to be his daughter.

On Malaysian mass communications student Wee Meng Chee, 24, in Taiwan who rapped to the Negaraku in a video clip, Hishammuddin, who is Education Minister, said the student had discarded the cultures and values of Malaysian society.
